Paul’s presentation will touch on a range of issues including global decarbonization initiatives, data center growth, and increasing electricity requirements, which are driving demand for specialty formulated polymers and flame-retardant wire coatings. He will also provide information about magnesium hydroxide masterbatch formulations and the significant cost savings which can be realized by utilizing mined brucite as an alternative to industrially formulated magnesium hydroxide for use in halogen-free flame retardants (HFFR). In addition, Paul will discuss the ramifications of China’s recent export restrictions of antimony trioxide, and the resulting massive increase in costs for this vital compound in the formulation of halogenated flame-retardant polymer compounds. The constriction of the supply chain has far-reaching industry implications, and Benvic is working diligently to source other suppliers, and is researching the formulation of alternative solutions.
